With the Modernism of the 20th century, and a kind of restart after the reunification, this tour visits several solitary cultural buildings of architectural experiments in contemporary buildings. These include the Bauhaus Archive, the New National Gallery by Mies van de Rohe, the Philharmonic Hall, the Shell House, the former Congress Hall and the Jewish Museum by Daniel Liebeskind.

Together with the fundamental new planning in the 90s of the square “Potsdamer Platz” and the government quarter, Berlin truly is a “Metropolis” of architecture. The visit of three city models completes the picture. It allows us to look back on the design of East Berlin of the 1980s and its disappearance from the cityscape. It shows current changes as well as the visions of the city planners and architects for eleven skyscrapers around the Alexanderplatz nowadays.
